Marc Josloff, an insightful painter and photographer,
earned his BA degree in Advertising Design & Visual
Communication at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY in 1969
and a Masters Degree in Art Education and Art Therapy in
1975. Since then he has studied painting at a multitude
of regional colleges and with several mentors, including
Mel Stabin, Irwin Greenberg and Paul Ching Bor.
Since 1978, Mr. Josloff's artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout the
metropolitan New York area. His paintings have also been included in private and
public collections. Recently his painting, "Boy on a Scooter at the Hotel
Deville," was purchased by the Art Students League of New York.
A gallery exhibition of select works from the ASL permanent collection entitled, "The League
Then and Now" displayed Marc Josloff's painting alongside those of Georgia
O'Keefe, Will Barnet, Norman Rockwell, William Merritt Chase and other notables.
Marc was featured in Watercolor Magic magazine, December, 2004, in "11 Hot
Artists- Ones to Watch". In the same magazine's December '05 issue, Marc was
cited in "Making a Splash."
In addition to being a prolific painter, Marc Josloff has been an art teacher,
photographer, graphic designer, advertising art director and illustrator. As a
multi-level visual artist he has combined many disciplines to attain the breadth
of his present work.
Mystery to Mastery Watercolor Workshop

The Kyoto
“Mystery to Mastery” workshop is an exceptional opportunity to see, feel and
paint the magical prefecture of Kyoto, historically the cultural center of
Japan. You’ll capture
temples & shrines, fishing village, old thatched houses, beautiful gardens,
markets, craftsmen and local people in native costume.
Learn new
watercolor skills and polish old ones.
Beginners to advanced painters welcome. Acrylic painters also welcomed.
Informative and entertaining critiques will nurture the individuality in each
artist, while fostering sound artistic disciplines.
The 11 day
workshop has been planned and coordinated by Yukiko Shimahara, a freelance film
and video coordinator for film and television, having performed extensive work
for the British Broadcasting Company. Lodging, land transportation and
delectable Japanese meals will be provided. Non-painter spouses or friends can
come along and enjoy additional planned activities.
Notes on the
instructor: Marc is a Watercolor Magic Magazine “One to Watch” artist who is
represented in the prestigious permanent collection of the Art Students
League of New York. He has 32 years
experience in teaching all levels of artists and was identified as a “master
teacher” while working in the NYC school system where he mentored other teachers
after his retirement. As a former art director and as an award winning
photographer and published illustrator, Marc has a diverse background which
gives depth and dimension to his instruction that is rare amongst most workshop
instructors.
Also unique to
workshops, he carries a portable digital printer to instantly produce reference
photos to work from.
