Photo-Paintings
In March, 2007 Marc Josloff set out to cultivate a new way to
present the world around him through his photographs. He calls them
"Photo-paintings." At once they seem "cutting edge" yet, at a second
glance, they are throwbacks to the woodcuts and chromo lithographs
of a much earlier time. The subjects are diverse, ranging from paint
palettes to rabbits to flowers to pagodas to baseballs. And yet they
exist linked together by an impressionistic atmosphere and peculiar
sensibility that makes this body of work unique. Exhibited here are
just a few samples, but there are over 250 different images in this
category. Catalogue sheets displaying the images can be provided
upon request.
